SonHarvest VBS

We are so excited, as we are preparing for our Summer Outreach VBS...we will be going out into the neighborhoods and inviting the kids to come out and spend three fun days learning about the Fruits of the Spirits that God can equip us with. The VBS will be held Aug. 20 -22 from 9 am to 12 pm each day and ending with a Grand Revue County Fair on Friday evening at 6:30pm. The kids will spend time in Bible Studies, worship, crafts, games, hands on farm exhibits...it is sure to be a blast!!! Don't miss out on the opportunity to be apart and serve at this event.
Even Pastor Tom can't hide his excitement for the VBS! Want to be able to sport one of these really cool VBS shirts...make sure you volunteer!!! ;)
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23

Mike's Skate Shop Ministry

I think the third Sunday of the month is becoming my favorite... I love heading down to Hampton,Va. to Mike's Skate Shop and to be able to see the youth there being ministered to. It is really awesome. I thank God that He faithfully sends someone each month to bring forth "His Good News" to these young kids!
This month Brenton Sabo gave an message that ROCKED! He gave a message about sowing the seeds and the 4 hearts that the seeds fall on and which one is your heart! Even for those of us who have been saved for a long time I believe were challenged to check our heart's condition.
Here is "our gang" that we brought from CCW; Logan, Spencer, Junior, Evie, Claire and Destinee
Continue to pray for these youth kids...it is summer time and they have lots of free time on their hands, so pray that they are using it wisely and that they are spending lots of time seeking out God!
You are probably thinking "why did you take a picture of the back of all these heads?" Well, as I stood there taking in all the wonders of our Lord and I was so in awe of the many youth that He brought out this month...God challenged me to look into the crowd and see what He saw. You know for the 4 months that I have been able to be apart of this ministry to the skate shop..I have always thought about the youth kids and really praying for them and asking God how can we minister to them more...and this time God showed me something great! If you look closely(double click the photo and it will enlarge) on the outside of the bowl hanging on the railing and standing on the stairs and leaning on the back walls are the parents who bring their kids to this. God showed me that there is a bigger picture...are we to minister and bring God's word and worship to the youth there, absolutely and that is the heart of the owners, but at the same time there are parent's who are hanging out and the word is being planted into their hearts as well. God is so great! So if you have never joined us and taken a step of faith to come at to Mike's skate shop for this outreach and maybe you think you just don't relate to the youth..Know that their are parent's who are hanging out and need to be encouraged and inspired by God through you! It is amazing that we love to get together and hang out and fellowship but when god asks us to get involved and stand out and bring His word to this dying nation we pull back and we have so many things to do that we don't go, and ultimately the people miss out because it would be so much more effective for 10 or 15 adults being there to encourage and pray then 4 or 5.Will God use those faithful 5 ABSOLUTELY...but does He have a bigger purpose and plan for this city YOU BET!!! Don't miss this awesome time of ministry next month!

Junior High goes to camp!

Pastor Tom praying before they head out for camp

The Junior High kids had a blast at summer camp this year. They loaded up two full vans and endured a fun 5 hour drive to Head Water's Lodge. They had a wonderful time in worship, prayer, getting into God's word and plenty of friendly games! It is really neat to see all the pictures and know from each one of their faces that God moved mightily. It is neat to speak to the youth kids and hear them tell of all that God did and how much their hearts were filled with joy and His hope. Ethan Sabo shared that God spoke to him greatly and he was blessed to have gotten away and to hear from the Lord. Destinee Barrera shared that her favorite time was the quiet time that they had each day to sit in their bunks and read their bibles. Chrissy Mezzapessa glowed and radiated as she told of all the fun they had at camp. Be encourage and ask the Junior High kids to share with you about camp...it is a blessing to see our youth so excited about God!

4th of July

This is pretty cool... Colonial Williamsburg was filled with people, as locals and tourist came to experience the fife and drummers and the spectacular firework show! This man ( I really apologize, as I can't remember what his name was) and 2 other guys along with him in the pouring rain, set up a stool and stood so Boldly upon it and gave out God's word. They were laughed at and cursed at and were mocked and yet they stood firm in their desire to go out into all nations and give out God's truth to a fallen land! It gives me tingles now as I think back and write about it... The wonderful part is that pretty soon these men were surrounded by men, women, youth and whole families listening! How many people must have heard about God for the first time, or were encouraged to get back on the narrow road, or just be reminded of how great the God they serve is! There was a few families from our church there who gathered to support....as I stood there I thought this is what it must have been like when Jesus came into town and stood and just preached or John the Baptist or Paul or the other disciples! Man it was amazing! If we could all be so bold in our Faith!
