Calvary Kids Worship Ministry

God has been doing a new powerful thing in our kid's ministry. Brandon is leading up a worship ministry for the kids. Serving along side of Brandon is Kyle and Destinee. Brandon comes up with the songs and him and Kyle play guitars and sing along with Destinee who makes up the movement for each songs and teaches them to the kids. It is really starting to take off and the kids are enjoying it and getting really excited about worshipping God. This past Sunday morning as I walked down the hall, I over heard Brandon leading and encouraging Destinee and Kyle as well as some of the other kids before service. He was sharing with them that they were at an age now that they needed to stand and know why they worship and serve God and that it was up to them to develop a personal relationship with God, that it didn't matter if their parents had a walk with the Lord they no longer were saved because of that. That they needed to be accountable for their own relationship with the Lord. It brought tears to my eyes and a Praise to the Lord that He has brought Brandon along side these kids to encourage and to train them up in worship.
The past few Sunday mornings our children's ministry has been filled to the brim! How God is our God? So we have had to start doing worship down the hall with them and in the part of the kitchen and part of one of the classrooms. The kids are getting really excited about worship. Brandon has started allowing the kids to help in playing the little drum box (sorry I cannot think of what it is called) as well as the little music eggs along with singing and learning the movements.
God has really given Brandon the heart not only to lead the kids in worship but to train them up in it. He shares about what each song means and why we need to get excited about it. The kids have finally gotten down "Nothing but the blood of Jesus" and are loving worship time :)
There is nothing sweeter then the sounds of the young children singing onto the Lord!

CCW Rocks Mike's Skate Shop

The worship team played a mini concert for the youth this past Sunday at Mike's Skate and Surf Shop in Hampton. It was a real blessing. The whole idea was to bring "kicked up" worship to the youth in effort to let them know it is cool to rock out for the Lord! They put there own spin on songs from Audio Adrenalin, Newsboys, Mercy Me, Brandon Heath songs, as well as a song that was writtin by John. Mike and Kathy the owners of the skate shop went way out of their way to bless these youth! Each youth that came and listen to the worship and devotion then got to skate in the skate park for free...90 kids came to this event. Pastor Thomas Powell from Calvary Chapel Virginia Beach gave an awesome teaching using the example of Jonah and the whale...CCW and Mike's Skate shop gave away 14 giveaways through the raffle. Each youth then got to go home with a CD of our worship teams set that we recorded. It is neat to see the way the Lord works and when His spirit is poured into something...it always amazes me what He is capable of doing and the outlets that he uses to accomplish it! Many of the youth gave their life's to the Lord that day as well as one of the dads who was there listening! THANK YOU JESUS! We really do worship an awesome God!

Beach Baptisms 2008

We headed down to College Creek for our yearly Beach Baptisms. It is always such a joy and a time of rejoicing with God's people. It reminds me as the women are going through the study of Acts..and it says that when they heard the good news..they wanted to also be baptized because they believed. So we rejoice with those who were baptised as they not only want to hear and know but they want to confirm and to show that they are new creations and they too also believe in the Good News! We thank you Jesus for all that you have shown to each one of these people and for the work you are doing in and through each one. It is always so cool as you look at their faces as they are going to be lowered into the water...they are heavy burdened and when they raise back up out of the water they are filled with His spirit and His joy!!! It makes me cry each time I watch the photos...We serve a Loving God, that He sent His son to die on the cross at Calvary and to take up the wages of our sins that we may be filled with hope and life! We had an awesome time in worship, the word, and through the baptisms and praying with each one of them and then fellowshipping and celebrating the New Births!!!!

"Full Armor of God"

The High School kids had a great time as they headed out to Camp Bethel for their summer retreat. The Lord did an awesome job of speaking directly to their hearts about Spiritual Readiness...The Lord did a neat work in each of the High School kids...many rededicated their lives back to God.

"Finally be Strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full Armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our strength is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God , so that you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breast plate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God, And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6:10-18
