Communion Sunday

"And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. "
1 Corinthians 11:24-25 KJV
On the first Sunday of each month we spend time as a church body in remembrance of the gift God gave us and the sacrifice of His Son. It is a true gift to be able to say Thank You, for sending your Son to die on the cross and raise again so that we may have the Hope of Eternal Life! As we are also able to lay down our sin and burdens at His feet and say Father please forgive me and have complete assurance that His Son already paid the price and we are forgiven!
Oh! What a Mighty Love our God has for each of us!

Servant Devotions

Each Sunday morning and Weds. evening before service starts we have a time of devotion for those who will be serving during that service. It is a great way to keep the servants refreshed, built up and their minds set on the things of the Lord as they go out into the parking lot, hostess table, sanctuary, serve bagels or minister to the children. This past Weds. Jay Holden gave a great devotion and encouragement about Martha and Mary. It was a great reminder that we as servants can get so overly focused on the what, where and hows that we don't put our relationship with Jesus above that. We forget to be so in love with His Word and in our time spent just sitting at His feet talking with Him.
May we be so passionate about Jesus that everything else falls into place because we sought after Him first!

Calvary Chapel Men's Simulcast Conference

The men were so blessed by the simulcast conference they took part of at CC Newport News. It was awesome for them to get away for the day and be able to be encouraged by the West Coast Calvary Pastors. They were challenged, equip, encouraged and blessed!
Michael Verhove came back and shared with the body here at Williamsburg that he was encouraged to exhort the men of our church body to stand up and serve in the children's ministry. We currently have no other men to be role models and teachers besides Michael at this time.
We are excited that the Lord has called our men to do great things as they step up and serve the Lord in their homes and church.

Ravi Zacharias

This past Weds. evening we went out to William & Mary College and heard Ravi Zacharias speak. It was amazing to see the room overflowing with college students and adults. He spoke with boldness and authority. He used logic to prove that Jesus was someone Alive and worthy to follow! God spoke through him. You can visit www.rzim.org to find out more about him and his ministry and to purchase his books.

CC Virginia Beach

We were able to head down to Calvary Chapel Virginia Beach last Saturday evening. We so enjoyed our time at their coffee cafe. The worship and fellowship was such a blessing!

The Beauty of Virgina

Hey all, Jeanne and I took some time last week to take a drive along one of our really beautiful tree-lined roads here in Williamsburg! We passed by plantations that were the homes of James Madison, John Tyler, William Harrison, Benjamin Harrison. These men were U.S. President's or signers of the Declaration of Independence.
This is a time of year when the leaves are turning beautiful colors like burnt orange, yellow and bright reds...along the way we stopped off at the Shirley Plantation (Virginia's first plantation built in 1613) and stumbled across some really big white box-like mounds in the fields...they were cotton bundles! After the cotton is "ginned", they "box" up the cotton for ease of transportation. You can see some of the fields have yet to be harvested and it looks like a sea of white! Here's some close ups of the actual cotton "bud" from the plant...it was really nice to get away with Jeanne and take a leisurely drive together...and guess what...check out the place we ate at for lunch....yep Mimi's Cafe! It's one of 3 in Virginia....it was so good! I really enjoyed my co-pilot who helped navigate me along the way....!

The Celestine Family

Meet the Celestine family...they are originally from Trinidad and they are now praying to return sometime next year. As the Lord "prepares their way," they went to Go Ministries in Southern California to get equipped in Missions! They spent 6 weeks in Norco, California and 1-week in Mexico to apply what they learned. They had much classroom time and outside time in evangelism and practical works of service. Here they are showing their graduation certificates! We look forward to see what the Lord will do in the not-to-distant future with them all.

Women's Bible Study

"Lord, Teach me to Study the Bible" by Kay Arthur
It has been amazing to see the women coming out with a burning heart desire to search the scriptures out in a way that they begin to see God in a new deeper personal way! We are currently going through the Kay Arthur study "Lord, Teach me How to Study the Bible" . It is amazing how when you simply just read God's word you miss out on so much! As we develop a deeper devotional life and begin to highlight key words and circle main characters, and pick out times and locations and start journaling main points...you have a greater understanding of the heart of God and the heart of the people in each of the stories. Then you begin to apply it to your life today and we gain an opportunity to grow in the Lord, to be corrected, to be encouraged, to be strengthened, to gain wisdom in all things! Man, that kinda growth demands a life changing experience! The study as taken us through the book of Jonah. WOW! Did you know the story reveals so much more then a man who ran from God and spent 3 days in the belly of a whale?? As we began to cross reference we saw the heart of God..he was a God with a plan and calling for a man's life, He is a God who was knows and sees everything, He was a good of judgement and a God of protection. He is a God who wants each person no matter who they are or where they have been or done to be given the opportunity to seek Him and be restored. We saw that Jonah was a man who knew God and heard clearly from Him and yet choice to run and be disobedient. When his plan didn't work, he had to kneel down and ask God to help him...Doesn't that sound like us today? Then we got to look at the sailors and see how they called out to everyone but God when things got bad and then when they saw the things of God first hand they began to call and pray to God, but yet when you cross reference back to other scripture you see that not all the sailors despite witnessing firsthand the work of the Lord had full conversions but still wavered in their faith and did not fully believe. Doesn't that sound like so many people in our lives today? All this and we haven"t been to the 2nd chapter of Jonah yet!
If you are sitting and wondering why you are left empty after your personal devotion time or wondering why you never hear the voice of the Lord...then dear sisters please come and join us! There are two studies to ensure that every women gets an opportunity!
1st & 3rd Thursday at 9am (childcare available)
2nd & 4th Tuesday at 7pm (sorry no childcare available)Kyle has been blessing us with worship. It is awesome to see him use the talent God has gifted him with and to see the Lord give him boldness in worship!

Prayer the Will of God for our Children and Church

Please join us on the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings from 7-9pm for our prayer fellowship. We devote an hour to praying the scripture over our children, believing God will intervene and do an amazing work in their lives. We then spend the next hour interceding for the needs of our church body and community. It is always an awesome time when we get to gather together in the name of the Lord and lift our voices up to the Him and then to begin to see Him move in lives of our children and church. Our God is a Mighty God worthy of our Praise!

Calvary Chapel Magazine

Calvary Chapel Magazine is a great opportunity to read about what is happening at the different Calvary's throughout the world. It is always a neat thing to see how God is working and what He is doing in the churches and in peoples lives. It is also a wonderful thing to be able to turn to the back pages and pray along side of all the missionaries that have been sent out throughout the world to bring forth the Lord's work. If you have not had the opportunity to check the magazine out..they are available at the back table for $2.00

Pick one up and be encouraged!!!

Choose to Obey Study

The Children's Ministry is on it's 4th week of the Jonah study. The kids are enjoying it so much! We have been taking small little pieces of it, breaking it down so they can really focus on each thing that happens and what it means. We just finished chapter one...and Jonah has now been thrown overboard! Each week we give the kids a "spirit theme" to participate in for the night...we have all had so much fun with it! It is great to see even the teachers getting involved! Here are some pictures from the past few weeks...
