Traveling to The Nazareth Village

As you travel through Israel you will notice that the signs are all in three languages, Hebrew, English & Arabic. The country does a wonderful job with signage and directions.

The natural hillside of Nazareth.  The land is terraced to be able to grow crops. Remember how the Lord said that the land would supply the Children of Isael with food. There are seven crops of Israel that grow naturally in Israel: wheat, barley, grape, date, pomegranate, olive, & fig.

Israel has had a 5 year drought but this year the Lord has given them rain so to land is green and filled with beautiful flowers. Continue to to pray for rain in Israel.

This was a path walking through the terraces where planting would take place. You can see the parable of the sower and the seed come alive. Lu 8:5-8  "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. "Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. "And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. "But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold." When He had said these things He cried, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

A water well

Demonstration of a carpenter's shop. A capenter would have worked from his home and he would also have been a stone mason.

Here we have home life for the women. Working with their hands for meals and with wool. The color of wool would come from dye. They dye color would denote value and cost. Remember Lydia a seller of purple. Purple was a very costly color.

The door of the synagogue reminded me of Jesus how He stands at the door and knocks. He said that if
anyone opens the door He would come and dine with them.  The enterance of the synagogue also reminded me of coming and being taught by Him.
These are some of the men who are pastors and teachers who taught on the trip. You can see the scroll and oil lamp on the table.

Joanna, Monique, Jeanne & Pilar enjoyed sweet fellowship and spent time praying together thoughout the entire trip. Pilar and her husband Jon lead the bible college in Lima Peru  and Joanna &Tom lead the bible college in Okinawa.

If you are thinking of taking a step of faith, consider going this summer to serve on a short term missions trip to either Peru or Okinawa... it will spur your faith and change your world view.

Have you heard the knock on the door of your heart? Or that still small voice,
Jesus loves you and wants to dine and be with you.
He desires to have that personal relationship with you where you will come to know a new life
where you can truly have peace, joy and love. Let Him be the Light, your light, in your life today?
Will you?

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
